Most Elevate application areas offer a market selector, which specifies which market the merchandising action will impact. A locale option is also provided when a market consists of multiple locales. Choosing a locale does not limit the effect of the merchandising action to that locale, it just controls which locale the end-user will experience.
For instance, when creating a boost in a market, this boost will affect all requests in that market, no matter the locale. Yet, when looking for products to boost within the application area, the search locale is determined by the selected locale. Merchandising locales are applicable for boosts, buries, category and landing pages, and email campaigns.
This means that merchandising actions only need to be set up once per market and will automatically apply for all locales, regardless of the selected merchandising locale.
Exception
Note there is one exception to how locale is applied: the navigation view. Navigation primarily consists of localized data, and is only relevant to visitors using a matching locale. For this reason, the navigation is separate for different locales on multilingual markets.
