FAQ: Email campaigns

What is an email campaign and how do I use it?

A campaign is an object that represents one or more blocks of Elevate generated email recommendations for one or more email sendouts (campaigns). Each configured and published email campaign will generate a set of links that you will add to your Email Service Provider email template.

How do multiple recommendation blocks work?

Email recommendations support using multiple blocks of recommendations where each block is a configurable entity holding a set of recommendation images.

What type of recommendations can I use? (Elevate 3)

The following types of recommendations are currently available:

  • Top seller
Aggregated data from all your customers interactions and purchases are used to produce a top seller list. The recommendation is typically used with certain filters applied.

  • Customer based
The customer's behavior on your site is used to generate recommendations. Typical data points include products that the customer viewed, added to a cart, or purchased. Already purchased items are not recommended.

  • Cart recommendation
A list of given products (Base Products) and aggregated data from all your customers activity on the site are used to recommend products which are likely to be bought along with the Base Products. Products that are added to the shopping cart during the most recent customer session are automatically filtered out of the result. The recommendation is typically used with certain filters applied.

  • Favorite based Uses a list of base products that a visitor have marked as a favorite. Typically used with certain filters applied.

  • Abandoned cart based Uses a list of base products that were added by a visitor to a shopping cart which did not lead to a purchase. The abandoned base products can be included in the recommendations if desired.

What type of recommendations can I use? (Elevate 4)

The following types of recommendations are currently available:

  • Top seller

  • Personal

  • Upsell

  • Favorites Uses a list of base products that a visitor have marked as a favorite. Typically used with certain filters applied.

  • Alternative The Similar product recommendation present products that the customer might consider to buy in place of the product that has been selected as a base product. The Similar product recommendation tries to find relevant products that are similar, both visually and functionally (i.e., of the same or a similar concept and product type) to the product that has been selected in as a base product.

What does x products to recommend mean?

This number represents the total pool of products that can be considered to be part of the recommendations based on what filters or other constraints you have applied. The default pool of products is always your entire product catalogue.

How can I apply filters to narrow down the set of products to choose from?

In the Edit campaign dialogue, you can click the ‘Products Filter Rules’ button on the Recommendation Block to set up products for. It will show you a new dialogue where you can click the ‘Add Rule Set’ button to apply include / exclude filters to narrow down the product set. Common filters to add are brand filters, category filters, price range filters etc.

Keep in mind that the set of products will be affected by the Excluded Products set specified in the Configuration tab.

I don't see any images in the preview pane?

First try locating and pushing the ‘Refresh Preview’ button to apply recently made changes. If that does not help, please check that you have selected enough products to recommend for the Campaign/Recommendation Block.

If the issue persists, contact Voyado Support.

What is preview by customer key?

You can test the system locally by adding a Elevate Customer key in the field. Please note that you may have multiple customer key systems and it is important to use the Elevate Customer keys in this test function.

The function will query Elevate with the customer key as an input and display the actual recommendations that would be generated for that specific customer key.

You may want to locate your personal Elevate Customer key and validate that the recommendations are relevant and on par with expectations.

What is embed code?

The Embed Code is a snippet of HTML code which you will need to add into the Email Service Provider email template to make Email Recommendations available in a newsletter. The code can either be used as separate product URLs and image URLs, or as full generated HTML. There are two snippets available: one for the mobile version and one for the desktop version of Product Recommendation Images.

Depending on the Email Service Provider, you may be able to copy and paste the entire embed code snippet into an Email Service Provider email template as is, or you may need to configure a special content module in the Email Service Provider email template by copying and pasting the product URLs and image URLs one by one.

What are custom price ids?

Supplying custom prices enables displaying recipient specific prices, or showing prices within the same market in different currencies.

Note. The price criteria filter only applies to the base price at the moment.
