Saving and publishing slices?
The page where the slices are added to needs to be saved and then published for the slices to take effect. Only the parent page containing slices needs to be published, as this will automatically affect any subpages.
What is Inheritance?
-
Pinning products inside a slice on a subpage will break the inheritance.
-
Re-arranging the slice order on a subpage will break the inheritance.
-
Removing a slice from a subpage will break the inheritance.
-
Inheritance only occurs from parent to subpages, not between siblings.
-
If edits are made on a intermediate page that has subpages, inheritance from the grandparent page will be removed.
How to disable inheritance for subpages?
To disable inheritance for subpages, switch off the toggle in the Add Slices view.
Why does it say its inheriting to subpages even though I've removed the slices?
To completely remove the inheritance, you need to save the page for the changes to take effect and the note indicating inheritance will disappear.
Why is a slice not showing up on a subpage?
This situation could arise due to the absence of products from the specific product set within the page listing. This is not uncommon since subpages often have more specific product filters than their parent pages.
Why is a product only visible in one of the slices?
It’s because of deduplication. Since a product can be included in multiple product sets it will only be visible in the slice with the highest priority if multiple sets containing the same product are used on the same page.
Why does it indicate that subpages will inherit?
This discrepancy may occur due to the default inheritance settings applied at the parent page level (Apply to subpages switch in Slices), but no slices selected, which automatically propagate zero slices to subpages unless explicitly turned off.
How pinning works?
- You can pin products by clicking the pinning button when hovering a product card.
- Pinning within a slice will only shift the products positions within that specific slice.
- A pinned product that is outside slices will end up just right after the last slice
- Pinned products are ordered based on the sequence in which they were pinned, from first to last.
- To change the order: re-apply pinning in the desired order
How can I limit the number of products in slices?
To limit the number of products displayed in a Slice, click on the Slice title and select "Edit Slice Size." You can then set a slice display limit between 1 and 24 products.
