What are automated synonyms? (Elevate3)
Automated synonyms are synonyms auto-generated by Voyado Elevate based on behavioral data, previous searches, and product attributes. Each synonym is evaluated before it is suggested as a synonym candidate. Before any suggested auto-generated synonyms can be used they must be approved by a user. Each auto-generated synonym is denoted by a robot icon next to the synonym.
What does the impact of a synonym mean? (Elevate3)

Positive - the synonym will give a positive impact compared to if the synonym were inactive.

Uncertain - Voyado Elevate cannot determine the impact of the synonym.

How does Elevate know how a synonym will perform? (Elevate3)
Synonyms are evaluated by Voyado Elevate using historic searches to determine how the synonyms would have affected the searches. This also requires that purchases and add-to-cart actions are correctly notified.
What is an untested synonym? (Elevate3)
A synonym that has not been present in 20 search queries that relates to purchases via an add-to-cart action is not tested. The impact of the synonym will be tested once it has appeared in 20 search queries related to purchases via an add-to-cart action.
What is a synonym in esales?
Synonyms are words related to a search phrase that help visitors find the correct products, even if the phrase used is not perfectly matching the products descriptive metadata.

What is a synonym useful for?
Synonyms are used to enhance the search experience and create relations between search phrases and products based on human intelligence. Typical use cases include managing common misspellings, dialects, and slang words. It can also be used to guide visitors to certain brands or result sets that are of particular importance.
How will my site be affected by synonyms?
The formula is fairly intuitive. When a visitor searches for a particular string, Voyado Elevate will also search for its synonyms and add that to the master result set. After that, Voyado Elevate uses its artificial intelligence and blends the visitor facing result set according to what ranking algorithm, boosts, and buries are in effect. For multi-word search phrases a synonym may also affect parts of the phrase, thus making synonyms a powerful tool to enhance a visitor's search experience.
What are global synonyms?
By default, a synonym is attached to a language, i.e. a locale. Searches in one locale will have a list of synonyms that enhances the search experience for that specific locale. In Voyado Elevate you can also set a synonym to be global which means it will have an effect on searches in all available locales. A typical use case for global synonyms are misspellings of brand names.
How do I add a new synonym?
In the Synonyms tab you can use the prominent + icon to enter the flow for adding a new synonym, or by clicking an existing search phrase in the Active Synonyms list to add additional synonyms to that phrase. Synonyms can also be added directly from the Search summary report by clicking the smaller + icon on each phrase listed in the report.
Can I import a list of synonyms?
On the right side of the market selector you will find the upload button. Clicking this will take you to a flow for adding a list of synonyms from an Excel file. Please note the instructions on the required formatting of rows and columns. Synonyms can also be imported directly into Voyado Elevate using the Web API.
Can I restrict access for synonym management?
Access and permissions that affect synonyms are managed in the Admin app. You can set permissions for each listed Voyado Elevate user that determine what locales the user has permissions to manage and if the user can manage global synonyms.
Navigate to the User management tab of the Admin app and find the pen icon to open the Edit user dialogue.
What does it mean when a synonym is inactive?
A synonym that is set to be inactive is not used by the Voyado Elevate search features. This is useful for occasions such as when seasonally used synonyms are out of season, or when the synonym evaluation has deemed a synonym to have a negative impact.
Why does a synonym have unknown as the modified and modified by value?
Synonyms that have Unknown as the value for either Modified or Modified by have been added to Voyado Elevate prior to November 30 2019.
