Succeeding with Boost by audiences

Personalized promotions are key in driving engagement and conversions. Boosting by audience in Voyado Elevate lets you target specific customer segments using data from Voyado Engage, ensuring the right products reach the right people. This guide covers how to implement audience-based boosts effectively, from selecting the right segments to optimizing performance.

Boost by audience workflow

Boosting by audience allows for targeted promotions to maximize impact. The workflow includes both Engage and Elevate:

  1. Create target audiences in Engage
Define audiences based on product affinity, interests, or other relevant attributes that align with your campaign goals.
  2. Create boost in Elevate
Select relevant products for these audiences.
Enable "Measure impact of boost" to track and analyze effectiveness.
  3. Drive targeted traffic
If you are driving traffic from specific audiences through, for example, email communication from Engage, design audience-specific emails or modules for optimal engagement.

Choosing the right audiences

Selecting the right audience is essential for maximizing the impact of your boosts. Consider these key factors:

Audience size & reach

  • Ensure your selected audience has a large enough reach to create an impact. Too narrow an audience may not generate enough impressions or conversions.
  • Aim for 15-50% of your contacts to be included. Small audiences can be useful in certain cases, but it takes longer to prove effective.

Relevance to the product

  • Align the audience with the product. For example, promoting women’s clothing should primarily target female shoppers.

Interests & purchase history

  • Leverage interest-based segmentation (e.g., recently browsed categories) or past purchase behavior to create well-tailored audiences.

Use cases

1-Demographics

Use demographic data to create personalized shopping experiences.

  • Audience Examples: Men/Women/Kids
  • Source: Zero-party registration data, purchase history

How to Implement:

  • Create target audiences in Engage based on registration demographics or previous purchases.
  • Create boosts in Elevate with products linked to relevant demographics.
  • Enable "Measure impact of boost" for performance tracking.

2-Replenishment & cross-selling

Encourage replenishment and cross-selling by boosting relevant products.

  • Audience Examples: Purchased a winter jacket last year but not yet this year.
  • Source: Purchase history

How to Implement:

  • Identify customers who previously purchased specific products but haven’t repurchased.
  • Create boosts in Elevate featuring related or complementary products.
  • Enable "Measure impact of boost" for tracking effectiveness.

3-Customer lifecycle

Tailor experiences based on where the customer is in their journey.

  • Audience Examples: High churn risk contacts, VIP customers.
  • Source: Engage Predictive Scoring

How to Implement:

  • Define target audiences in Engage based on predictive scoring.
  • Create boosts in Elevate featuring either low-cost or high-margin products based on audience type.
  • Enable "Measure impact of boost" for monitoring results.

4-Category-specific buyers

Promote products within a specific category based on purchase history.

  • Audience Examples: Outdoor gear shoppers, PS5 enthusiasts.
  • Source: Purchase history

How to Implement:

  • Segment target audiences in Engage using purchase history data.
  • Create category-based boosts in Elevate.
  • Enable "Measure impact of boost" to track success.
