Scheduled publishing for pages

Scheduled publishing lets you choose when your page changes go live. Instead of publishing immediately, you can schedule publishing for a future date and time. Elevate will then publish automatically when the time arrives. This helps you coordinate launches, publish outside office hours, and update multiple pages at the same time.

Prerequisites

  • You need permission to publish pages.
  • The scheduled date and time must be in the future.

How to schedule publishing

From Category & Landing pages, you can schedule a page from the row actions menu, or multiple pages from the Selected pages tab.

Schedule a single page

  1. Navigate to the relevant page in Elevate and select the Publish button.
  2. You will be presented with two options: Publish now or Publish later.
  3. Select Publish later, then choose your desired date and time. The pending changes will be published automatically at the scheduled time.
  4. Once confirmed, the scheduled changes are visible directly in the page list, where you can review what is queued for publication.

If you can't confirm, make sure the scheduled date and time is in the future.

Schedule multiple pages

  1. Go to Pages.
  2. Select two or more pages.
  3. Open the Selected pages tab.
  4. In Actions for selected pages, select Publish.
  5. Select Schedule for later.
  6. Choose a publish date and time.
  7. Select Confirm.

The same date and time is applied to all selected pages.

To get an overview of all pages with upcoming scheduled publishing, use the page list filter to show only pages with a scheduled publish date.

How it works

When the scheduled time arrives, the system publishes the pending changes of the page. This section explains the difference between publishing immediately and scheduling, and what happens when a scheduled publish starts.

Publish now vs. schedule for later

  • Publish now publishes pending changes immediately.
  • Schedule for later publishes pending changes automatically at the time you choose.

When the scheduled time arrives

  • Publishing starts automatically when the scheduled time passes.
  • While publishing is running, you may see a "Publishing…" indicator.
  • Some actions may be temporarily disabled to prevent conflicting changes.
  • Once publishing completes, actions become available again.

If you publish now on a scheduled page

  • The existing schedule is removed automatically.
  • The page is then published immediately with the recent changes.

Finding scheduled pages

You can quickly see which pages are scheduled and when they will publish. You can also filter the list to show only scheduled pages.

Identify scheduled pages

In list view

  • Scheduled pages show a date and time in the Scheduled column.
  • A calendar indicator appears on the page row.
  • Hover the column cell or indicator to see the schedule tooltip.
  • Sort by Scheduled to see what will publish soonest.

In tree view

  • Scheduled pages show the calendar indicator.
  • Hover the indicator to see the schedule tooltip.

Filter scheduled pages

Use the Scheduled publishing filter to find scheduled or non-scheduled pages quickly.

Editing a scheduled page

If you edit a page that is scheduled and then select Save, you'll be asked what to do with the existing schedule. The same flow applies when editing multiple pages if at least one is already scheduled.

Any changes you save before the scheduled time will be included when the page publishes.

Keep the current schedule

  • Keeps the existing date and time.
  • Only available if the scheduled time is still in the future.

Update the page and keep current schedule

  • Keeps the existing date and time.
  • Updates the pending changes immediately.

Reschedule

  • Lets you choose a new future date and time.
  • Replaces the old schedule.

Remove scheduling

  • Keeps the changes and removes the schedule so the page won't publish automatically later.
  • You'll be asked to confirm unscheduling.

If you select Remove scheduling and then cancel the confirmation, you'll be taken back so you can choose another option (such as Keep the current schedule or Reschedule).

Unschedule pages

If you change your mind about the schedule, unschedule it — your changes stay saved but won't go live automatically.

Troubleshooting scheduled publishing

In rare cases, scheduled publishing may fail. This section explains what you might see when that happens, why certain actions may be temporarily unavailable, and what to do next.

Retry a failed scheduled publish

If a scheduled publish can't be completed, the page is marked as "Scheduled publish failed".

What you'll see

  • A "Scheduled publish failed" status or message on the page.
  • A tooltip or message indicating the scheduled publish failed.

Retry publish

  1. Hover the message to access the schedule tooltip on the failed page.
  2. Select Retry publish.
  3. If the scheduled time is no longer valid, the publish flow will guide you to either publish now or choose a new scheduled time.

Troubleshoot disabled buttons

To prevent conflicting changes, Elevate may disable Publish, Schedule, or Unschedule in certain situations. This is usually temporary and the buttons become available again once the system is ready.

Buttons are disabled while publishing is running

  • Publishing is currently in progress, including automatic publishing for schedules whose time has passed.
  • Wait until publishing completes, then try again.

Buttons are disabled due to missing permissions

  • You don't have permission for the action you're trying to perform.
  • Ask an admin to update your access if needed.

Publish is disabled

This is usually because:

  • None of the selected pages have anything to publish (no pending changes).
  • You don't have permission to publish the selected pages.
  • Publishing is already in progress.

Unschedule is disabled

This is usually because:

  • None of the selected pages are scheduled.
  • Publishing is already in progress for one of them.

How scheduling and page imports work

Full import

If a page is updated through a full import, the page is automatically published and your saved merchandising changes are replaced by the imported version.

Partial import

If a partial import includes a scheduled page, merchandiser changes will remain unpublished as long as they were not part of the partial import, and the page will publish at the scheduled time.

Partial import with pending changes

When running a partial import with both Update existing pages from the API and Update settings for existing pages from the API enabled, any pending changes on affected pages will be published immediately.

To preserve pending changes, disable the toggle for the setting you don't want to overwrite before running the import.
