How the Search result page (SRP) works

The Search Result Page (SRP) is where full results are displayed after a visitor submits a search query. Visitors who use search often have a high purchase intent, so this page plays a crucial role in driving conversions. The SRP helps customers efficiently browse, refine, and choose from a large selection of products. This article briefly covers how search works in Elevate and how it supports the search result page.

How Elevate search works

Search in Voyado Elevate is designed to understand what the customer actually means—not just what they typed. It does this by combining:

  • Query analysis – Interprets the intent behind the search, even when phrased imprecisely. Includes spelling correction, concept matching, and synonym understanding.
  • Semantic analysis – Recognizes color, product type, price, material, or even occasions.
  • Free-text matching – Ensures relevant results are surfaced even for non-standard phrases or broad search terms.
  • Product intelligence – Elevate blends AI models with retail-specific logic like product life cycle data, sales performance, and visitor behavior to prioritize what is shown.

This foundation supports both the search result page and the suggestions in autocomplete.

Key elements of a Search result page

Product results

Search-matching products are presented in a ranked list. Each product entry typically includes:

  • Image and product name
  • Price and discounts
  • Short description
  • Availability (e.g. in stock online or in a specific store)

Filters and facets

Visitors can refine the results using filters. In Elevate, we call them facets. These filters dynamically reflect the current product set and ensure that customers can quickly narrow down their selection. Available facets:

  • Size
  • Color
  • Brand
  • Price range
  • Category
  • Stock status

You can also create your own facets from product attributes, using the Facet configurator. This allows you to use custom facets in search.

Result grouping and tabs

Some implementations group results into different categories, such as:

  • Products
  • Brands
  • Content (e.g. guides or FAQs)

Each tab displays the number of matching results for that type, helping users navigate efficiently between product and informational content.

Autocorrect and suggestions

If a query is misspelled or ambiguous, the Search result page may autocorrect the query, or suggest a corrected version using “Did you mean” logic. To be transparent, and not force the use of autocorrect, both the original and corrected versions are displayed.
